Central Asia's Steady Growth
Central Asian countries have demonstrated varying levels of progress in their renewable energy journeys. Kazakhstan, for instance, has maintained a steady but moderate expansion, with a notable focus on wind energy. The country's wind capacity has increased, contributing to a slight rise in the overall share of renewables in its electricity capacity. On the other hand, the Kyrgyz Republic stands out with its heavy reliance on renewable sources, already accounting for over 79% of its electricity mix. This structurally different model showcases the region's commitment to clean energy.
Uzbekistan's Rapid Acceleration
Uzbekistan, however, takes the lead in Central Asia's renewable energy story. The country experienced a remarkable 65% increase in renewable capacity in just one year, with wind and solar power leading the charge.
